FEATURING CHICAGO STYLE BLUES

All CD's Are New Unless Otherwise Indicated

BYTHER SMITH

Smitty's Blues

PRICE: $19

Byther flies on this set and you can really feel the energy he and his band laid down on these tracks. Byther even recorded an acoustic song on this album, something he never has done before. If you love that raw, brooding Chicago blues sound, played and sung with lots of soul and emotion…, you'll love this set. It's as rough and tough as you can get it today.

BIG GEORGE JACKSON

Beggin' Ain't for Me

PRICE: $18

Raw, nasty, heart-felt Chicago blues is what 'Beggin' Ain't For Me' by vocalist, harp player Big George Jackson has to offer. George's no nonsense harp and his colourful, big bass rich vocals distinguish him from many of his slick contemporary colleagues. It's nasty, dirty and harks all the way back to the rough Chicago blues from the fifties and sixties.

BIG GEORGE JACKSON

Big Shot

PRICE: $18

The second album by the Big George Jackson Band for Black & Tan Records. 'Big Shot' is the successor to his well received Black & Tan debut from 1998: 'Beggin' Ain't For Me'. And what a worthy successor it is.  Big George and his tight band deliver powerful, solid, no-nonsense blues.

BYTHER SMITH

Throw the Book Away

PRICE: $19

'Throw away the book' said Byther Smith to the band before they started recording their second set for Black & Tan Records. Don't play with your head, but from the heart? Follow your guts! That's the direction that Byther and the band wanted to explore. Inspired by their eagerness to play, to learn about the blues and their musical creativity, Byther decided to revisit some of the songs he recorded in the past....... .

BIG GEORGE JACKSON

Southern In My Soul

PRICE: $18

The band worked a long time on this one. They've recorded the album in their own homemade studio. No fancy stuff on this one. It's straight hardcore blues, reminiscent of the raw, biting blues of the fifties.
